Today was a big day and boy am I tired! My friend, Austin, came all the way from Alaska to spend Spring Break with me here! This is his first time out of Alaska so I'm doing my best to make this a special trip for him. Austin first arrived at about 2:00 am and after promptly freaking out at our reunion, we settled in for the night...but not before he gave me a VANISHING TARDIS MUG. Pictures to follow.
We started off the day bright and early at about 10:30 with going to the Japanese crepe place across the street. I brought Whoopi along because the folks that own the place said they would take care of her for me.
Water bottle transport!
Crepes and bubble tea for breakfast!! Austin with his first!
We also found these adorable little critters in a bowl. We couldn't resist buying one of them each. Austin's is the little and green one, mine is big and blue.
After this Austin and I went all around Ashland. We of course went to all the must sees like CD or not CD, Pita Pit, Renaissance Rose, and Lithia Park!
This guy was also in one of the shoppes with a cool instrument! Exciting!

Happy Hunger Games!
I am only just starting to wake up from finally seeing the midnight premier of The Hunger Games. It was a long night and well worth it.
I want dressed as sort of a make shift Capitol Citizen. I was going more for Effie Trinket than anything else, but being a college student I had very little to work with. I ended up just mixing colours and patterns and hoping to look a little outrageous. My hair was her signature pink colour but it was styled in an odango instead of curls. The flowers I stole out of the girls bathroom.
The movie it's self was okay, but with books like The Hunger Games the movie will always be a disappointment. I won't be giving too much away because some have yet to see it, but I will say that there I a lot of out of focus camera work that makes the viewer sea sick. Anyway, time to sleep more!

Sunny Day Picnic Special (3/9)
It's been really warm here in Ashland. It's barely March, and yet summer is here in full swing! It's crazy! Back home in Alaska, I know that at this time of the year it would be raining like it did in Jurassic Park, but less dinosaurs. Ashland gets tourists instead.
ANYWAY, because it's been so nice, we decided that now is the time for a picnic if ever there was a time! A little group of friends and I procured snackage at the nearby Market of Choice then found a sunny place to chow down. And, speaking of dinosaurs, we did play Raptor Tag where one (usually Lora) pretends to be a raptor until she can catch one of us and eat us, which turns us into a raptor. No escape. Since we were mostly running for our lives at that point, not many pictures were taken.

Sarah carrying Lora
There is a picture of Sarah carrying my friend, Lora. Having pictures of Sarah during our outings is rare because she is usually the one behind the camera.
Raptor Lora has Keefer treed! (Taken by Sarah)
Here is one picture of the great Raptor-ocalypse! Here, Keefer tries to evade the swift and cunning Lora. Little does he know that he is soon to be thrust to the harsh ground and torn limb from limb by the sharp fangs of reality. We shan't mourn him.
Bidoof came too!
I spent a lot of my time in the trees there. Back home in Alaska, you can climb almost every tree you see, and I miss that. Here in Ashland, you never know which trees are off limits so I've become something of a closet tree climber.

Crochet Bidoof
I have just created a new friend! Say 'Hello!' to
I think he turned out splendid for just making it up as I go along. He is a silly little critter! The only problem is that once I make little toys like this I NEVER want to give them up cause I like them too much! I get so attached! I don't want to send him away...but I will...If I have to...blaah...
I'll let you know his reaction when I myself don't know it cause I havn't given it up him yet!
That's it for now! More crochet Pokemon to come!
Bidoof
Isn't he adorable? I made him for my friend Andy's 17th birthday! He doesn't particularly like bidoof (who does?) so I thought I'd be funny and make it for him. I've been making him as well as his siblings Pokemon for all their recent birthdays and major gift-giving holidays but this is the first one that I have made using a pattern of my own. It's fun stuff!I think he turned out splendid for just making it up as I go along. He is a silly little critter! Finding February
And so ends the shortest of the long months. I really identify with February and sort of feel that in some ways it is my soul month. Partially because I'm the shortest person in my immediate friend group, partially because I, like February, can't make up my mind and constantly some where in between rainy, lazy, warm days, and I just can't decide what the hell I want to do.
This month has been full of printed paper and whispering tales of harsh deserts, murders, and blood drenched girls. Somewhere, between the 29 days (as it is leap year) of February and my college midterms, I have managed to read three exceptional books. The first is one that I am sure you all have heard of Carrie by Stephen King. This needs no explanation. The next was a book in a series of which I am particularly fond: The Cat Who Talked Turkey by Lillian Jackson Braun. More on them at a later. I also read Unwind by...an author that I forgot the name of but I really was a splendid book. Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star by Brandon Mull is next with the latest book (finished not 30 minutes ago) is the lovely sequel to the novel by Dianna Wynee Jones's Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Air.
The book I wish to review for February is Unwind. It was given to me by a few of my friends back home as a Christmas present and I am very glad they did. I must have read that book in 2 days. The plot line is very interesting, just the sort of thing I go for: dystopian tales. Stories about civilizations don't quite work out, like Suzanne Collin's Hunger Games. In this story, we see into a world where if there is a child who is in juvy, a ward of the state or some other form of trouble, their parents can have them Unwound. This means that they will be taken away to places called Harvest Camps and simply...taken apart, a truly chilling process. After these children are disassembled, all their body parts are given to those who need them, legs to a man in a wheel chair, hair to the bald, and fingers to the pianist who can't play. The problem is, the children who are taken to Harvest Camps are seldom there by choice (though some are), and that is what the story is about. There are three kids who are running for their lives from the government and it is their story we read. I admit, the ending is a bit...lacking. But such is life, right? The ending is much how it would have ended if it took place in real America. It also has a promise of a brighter future later in the book. I would give it 3 Tootle Points!
More later, I know this really isn't much to go on because there isn't much here. I really should have started blogging at an earlier date so I could have has time to say more. Oh well
Tootles!
